Are You Highly Sensitive?
Does chaos stress you out? Can a movie make you cry? Are you still thinking about what your colleague told you the other day because…he was a little bit rude, wasn’t he? You’re not crazy, broken, or weird. However, it could be that you are highly sensitive.
As a highly sensitive person (HSP), you tend to be very empathetic, creative, and aware of your surroundings. But you might also be prone to stress and overwhelm. Thus, it’s important to take good care of yourself.
High sensitivity is a personality trait. And it’s perfectly normal. Simply put, it means that your brain processes stimuli more deeply. These stimuli can be hectic places, the people around you, or your own emotions and thoughts. Several scientists have studied sensitivity over the years, including psychiatrist C.G. Jung, Nobel Prize winner Iwan Pawlow and American psychologist Dr. Elaine Aron.
